Technology Providers

Each technology provider is contributing donated or heavily discounted equipment and/tools to the academic research teams for this effort, including a reasonable level of technical support for their products, and directly participates in forum activities and discussions as the provider may choose.  The principal equipment providers are Altera and GiDEL. Altera has committed to donate one or more sets of four Stratix-III E260 FPGAs to each academic research team in the forum. Concomitantly, GiDEL will provide for each set donated a heavily discounted Novo-G board (i.e. quad-FPGA ProcStar-III) for the purpose of enabling local experiments at each academic team site.

A broad suite of design tools is anticipated on Novo-G, such as MPI, UPC, and SHMEM at the system level, and Altera FP compiler, Impulse-C, Mitrion-C, VHDL, Verilog, Simulink, and IP library cores at the device level.  This vendor suite will be augmented with a broad, innovative, and evolving set of productivity tools and libraries borne from research tools projects

  • Altera (Steve Brown, Mike Strickland, Martin Langhammer) -- Stratix-III devices, tools, and cores
  • GiDEL (Reuven Weintraub, Shyam Uma-Chander) -- ProcStar-III boards, tools, and cores
  • Impulse Accelerated Technologies (Brian Durwood) -- Impulse-C tool
  • Mitrionics (Stefan Möhl) -- Mitrion-C tool
  • University of California Riverside (Walid Najjar) -- ROCCC tool
  • Other providers TBD
